My work examines the power of the mind and the gray areas surrounding mental illness, personal growth, and age. I use the human form in my art as a means of therapy to create self-portraits depicting different versions of myself, in order to learn to work on acceptance. The feelings of being a loner and outsider are common, as most humans struggle with self-love and finding their place in the world. My art is a representation of the subconscious shown in physical forms. I examine the functionality of the mind as it struggles to make sense of the reality the body is forced to live in, and how our personal wiring affects us as well as others.
Other parts of my practice include glass work, and this has been a way for me to jump outside of my comfort zone and integrate more abstraction and color into my life. While less serious in content, it provides a therapeutic practice as well. Typically I shy away from color in my expressive work, and the glass allows a different form of care free expression.
